About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Enterprise Co-ordinator for the South Midlands Careers Hub to improve the careers outcomes for young people in the region.

Our role is to connect together local employers with careers leaders in schools, colleges and training providers to coordinate careers education and enhance each student's early experiences of the work place. The South Midlands Careers Hub supports around 150 schools, colleges and providers across Bedfordshire and Luton, Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire.

Hub supported programmes bring partners together, to act with the shared aims of inspiring young people, and giving students the knowledge and practical skills to make decisions about their next steps.

Five priorities areas for the South Midlands Careers Hub are:

  1. Improve careers provision in schools and colleges against the Gatsby Benchmarks through support, training for the education workforce and quality assurance.
  2. Facilitating more, high quality experiences with employers for students and teachers
  3. Amplify apprenticeships, technical and vocational routes – including supporting the implementation of the Provider Access Legislation (PAL)
  4. Targeting interventions for economically disadvantaged young people and those who face additional barriers
  5. Connecting careers provision in schools and colleges to the needs of the local economy.

This role will include a focus of support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools.

Interviews for this role are expected to be on 15 January 2025.

What will you be doing?

The Enterprise Coordinator (EC) acts as a careers consultant who sits at the heart of the Careers Hub. You will be supporting schools and colleges to develop their careers policy, programme and planning aligned to institution improvement priorities, as well as brokering introductions to providers and employers as appropriate.

You will be working closely with schools and businesses: in a fast paced and varied role by:

  • Providing strategic support to a caseload of schools
  • Engaging effectively and tenaciously with businesses within the region
  • Recruiting and supporting a volunteer network including matching schools with volunteers
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC) as the funder and promote the programme externally.
About you

You will be customer focused, a self-starter and team player, with experience of building partnerships, creating networks and maintaining strong relationships.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of a subject relevant to the role, such as an understanding of local and national policy relating to skills and economic development, issues and barriers to employment faced by young people, and understanding of post-16 landscape and pathways into employment.

You’ll use your knowledge and experience to support the delivery of the Careers Hub programme and caseload management.

You will need to have a solutions driven and adaptable approach to working, thrive in a busy environment and have a positive approach to challenges.
