This role is a critical role within Process Analytical Technology (PAT) team within Innovation team, to be the internal expert on Pressure Systems Design.

This role is within the New Product Development (NPD) team focusing on the application of near infrared (NIR) sample interfaces in Process Analytical Technology (PAT) applications. PAT spans multiple industries. As the PAT design engineer, you will be involved in R&D of systems which provide valuable chemometrics for customers on their processing sites. These systems generally operate under vacuum, high-pressures and temperatures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • SAFETY FIRST - ensure that you and your team members are not injured at work and report any hazard promptly following the company guidelines.
  • Design pressurised sample interfaces for NIR Spectroscopic applications.
  • Design systems with relevant pressure directives, ensuring compliance across product line.
  • Design pressure systems using appropriate design standards/codes (Eg., ASME VIII-1, I, IV, B31.1, B31.3, B31.5 & etc as applicable).
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining Technical Files for both new products being developed as well as the existing product portfolio.
  • Define and execute product validation & verification following international/industry standards.
  • Lead the design and testing of new products working closely with product manager, sales and marketing, under the supervision of the NPD Lead.
  • Ensure existing products designs are kept updated based on change requests and in sync with the latest quality & customer insights, Specifications & Regulatory requirements.
  • Effectively communicate design intent to all stakeholders and parts of the business as necessary, e.g. supply chain, external suppliers, production engineers, assembly staff, applications, sales and quality, and travel as required.
  • Assisting and contributing to Innovation Funnel of Engineering department.
  • Implement knowledge management and governance while driving collaboration & transparency.
  • Collaborate with other departments and contribute to continuous improvement to increase quality, eliminate waste etc, particularly regarding engineering processes and design.
  • Participate in design reviews and testing for research and development and effectively record results as required.
  • Maintain awareness of current state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing techniques.


Key Skills:

· Minimum Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related.

· Expert knowledge & hands on work experience in SolidWorks & FEM/FEA.

· Hands on experience in Pressure vessels &/or hydraulics system design and testing.

· Developing test procedures, testing & report writing.

· Expert knowledge of BS8888 and other applicable ASME design standards.

· Project Management experience is advantageous.

· Knowledge of the application of NIR process flow cells would be beneficial.

· Excellent organisational and communication skills and establishing good working relationship with cross functional teams.

· Quality driven flexible, pro-active, and methodical approach to tasks.

  • Knowledge of the PED directive is advantageous.
