Purpose of the role:-
The East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) is a major industry transformation programme to capitalise on a once in a generation opportunity to install digital signalling on the East Coast Mainline. The programme will require unprecedented cross industry collaboration on all aspects of delivery to ensure the right outcomes for passengers
We're looking for someone to work alongside our current Station Management team, to support them in delivering brilliant basics during the lifespan of the project. You'll ensure our people are supported, providing strong leadership to your team, and ensuring they have the right tools to help our customers. You'll ensure our high performance standards are consistently met throughout, and will be a visible presence for both staff and customers. You will also support the Area Station Manager in developing and delivering plans for your area for engineering works.
We are a 24/7 business, and there is an expectation that you will be available to support delivery phases of the project, which will at times involve a roster system and weekend working.

Brilliant basics are ensured through effective delivery of day to day station operations
Station teams and station environments shift perceptions by positively influencing customer satisfaction results
Station teams deliver excellent customer service to customers
A team ethos is developed amongst the designated area
Ticket gates are efficiently managed to reduce ticketless travel
Stations are maintained to the highest standards and SQR audits are successful
A robust sustainable safety culture is in place which protects our customers and employees, significantly improves safety performance
Effective service disruption and event plans are implemented
Station teams are fully engaged in line with GTR's vision and values
Trade union relationship is well managed, harmonious and appropriate Key results area (How those Expected Outcomes will be achieved)
Lead, engage and motivate the Station teams to create a consistently high performing team to meet the business objectives and customer expectations.
Deliver a high profile management style, being visible on the station, monitoring standards, talking to customers and building relationships.
Take the leadership role in developing a strong safety culture that addresses the acceptance of risk and introduces personal accountability and ownership of safety related issues.
Develop the station team to ensure that all colleagues demonstrate the skills required to provide excellent customer service.
Deliver all people management activities of team including welfare, performance monitoring, coaching, attendance, disciplines and grievances.
Deploy front line employees during disruption to meet customers' needs ensuring that staff have the right tools to provide accurate and timely information.
Identify and implement solutions to deliver a safe and reliable train service in ensuring that delays/cancellations are managed closely.
Act as a key player with local community stakeholders to the station(s) for which you/they are responsible.
Assist in the delivery of station investment works being and in the identification of commercial opportunities.
Ensure that risk assessments, planned general inspections, accident investigations and fire precaution management checks are carried out. Documents
