We are currently looking to fill a position of a Quarry Manager due to the current manager reaching retirement.
Main Purpose of the Role
To produce the appropriate quantity and quality of product safely at the minimum cost, as dictated by the budget.
To recommend to the Production Manager changes in strategy, policy, or procedures with a view to increasing profitability and efficiency.
To ensure compliance with the Company's Safety Policy, Quarries Regulations 1999 Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Assist the Production Manager in the preparation of annual cost budgets.
To ensure that mobile and fixed plant is available for use during working hours by arranging speedy and economic repairs when required.
Issuing orders to suppliers and keeping records of spending whilst achieving cost budgets.
To ensure compliance with all legislation, permissions and licences that relate to the Company's site.
To lead, motivate and train the workforce and to achieve and maintain a high morale.
To monitor and maintain all water discharge within the EA Consent Levels.
To advise the Site Foreman of any necessary corrective action across the site.
To undertake the preparation of risk assessments and take action on these as appropriate.
To ensure that contractors are adequately inducted, trained and instructed to ensure safe working on site.
To conduct regular Health and Safety training meetings and sessions.
Skills and Experience
NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in Mineral Product Operations.
NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plant Operations and competency qualification for operating quarry plant.
Previous history in a management position within the mineral products industry, preferably sand and gravel.
A good understanding of plant and machinery, including maintenance and planning.
Knowledge and experience of production processes, health and safety systems and cost/budget control.
Excellent understanding of the Quarries Regulations Act 1999 and ACOP.
