We are currently looking for a Bid Writer to join our clients bid team based in Chatham Kent.
 
The ideal Bid Writer candidate would:
Ideally a minimum of one year’s experience in a bid writing role.
Experience of the construction industry, either onsite or in an office, is preferable.
Hold a degree in any discipline requiring a high level of writing, research and analysis.
Excellent use of the English language with a professional and concise writing style.
Highly proficient in writing, editing and copy-writing.
An eye for design to assist in the creation of sleek and modern-looking tender responses.
Able to work both as a team with the Line Director, Bid Manager, Bid Writing and Estimating Team, but also able to work alone and use initiative.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office software.
Adobe InDesign experience is preferable.
UK driving licence and car preferable
Need to be comfortable speaking with Regional Managers and Directors
Someone with experience essay-writing, for example, someone with a humanities degree
Previous experience includes – previous writing or has many transferable skills that can be applied to bid writing (could be recruitment, administrative, marketing, etc.)
Salary - £24k to £34k DOE
Interviews – July time
The Bid Writer will be an active member of the Bid & Estimating Team creating bespoke
submissions for Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Invitation to Tenders (ITTs)
for construction projects and relevant framework submissions. Key elements of the role
will include:
 
Bid Writer Role Responsibilities:
• To work within the team framework to identify new opportunities and flag
appropriate projects for review by the Bid Manager and Director.
• To respond to tender opportunities via bespoke quality submissions.
• Thoroughly read all tender documentation provided, ensuring no key information is
missed.
• Create clear, concise and informative pieces of work that meet or exceed clients’
requirements.
• To work with the Bid Manager and Directors to review and amend work ready for
submission.
• Meeting specified deadlines for both review and submission of work.
• To coordinate internal stakeholders whose input will ensure the success of the
submission, e.g. technical staff members or Project Programmer.
• Creating high quality case studies of ongoing projects for use in both tenders and
relevant marketing material.
• To gather feedback from clients both where the submission has been successful
and unsuccessful.
• To update tender analysis of submitted bids to ensure ongoing improvement and
that submission standards are consistently high.
• To assist in managing the bid library, ensuring it remains up-to-date.
• Participate in regular bid meetings and tender kick-start meetings as well as review
meetings throughout.
• To update staff CVs and case studies throughout as required.
• To attend training and skills improvement courses as and when identified that are
relevant to the role.
• To attend bidder days and represent the company in a professional manner.
• To keep abreast of industry developments.
• To build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Attend potential or existing sites, as required, to inform submissions or case
studies.
