  Overview of the role

As the Director of Product, Trust & Safety at Trustpilot, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding our platform's integrity, ensuring a secure and trustworthy experience for millions of users worldwide. You will lead a dedicated team of Product Managers in developing innovative product solutions that address safety, privacy, and security challenges. Your strategic vision and leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping Trustpilot's approach to Trust & Safety, aligning with our mission to offer transparent and reliable reviews.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership - Develop and execute a comprehensive 3-year product strategy that aligns with Trustpilot's vision of becoming the universal symbol of trust. Lead the Trust & Safety product team to innovate in the realm of online safety, enhance user trust, and expand Trustpilot's influence as a trusted review platform. Drive the team's focus on developing solutions that proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring that Trustpilot's services meet consumers & expectations for safety and reliability.
  • Product Innovation - Spearhead the development and implementation of innovative Trust & Safety features and capabilities to enhance the platform's integrity and user experience. This includes creating advanced detection systems for fraudulent activities, introducing new user verification processes, and leveraging AI and machine learning technologies to improve content moderation and automate the identification of harmful content.
  • Consumer Engagement - Implement strategies to increase user awareness and education around Trust & Safety issues, promoting safer online interactions and encouraging responsible content sharing. Develop features that enhance transparency and user control over their data and privacy settings. Drive initiatives to engage users in Trust & Safety efforts, including feedback loops and community-driven moderation tools.
  • Market Optimization - Collaborate with legal, commercial and marketing teams to understand emerging Trust & Safety needs in new and existing markets. Lead efforts to adapt and localize Trust & Safety features, ensuring that Trustpilot meets the diverse needs of users worldwide. Identify opportunities for growth by aligning Trust & Safety innovations with market demands, particularly focusing on expanding Trustpilot's presence and impact.
  • Team Leadership - Manage and mentor a team of Product Managers dedicated to Trust & Safety, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability. Provide leadership and guidance to ensure the team is focused on delivering impactful product solutions that address Trust & Safety challenges. Equip the team with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to excel in their roles and contribute to Trustpilot's mission.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making - Utilize metrics, user feedback, and security incident data to guide Trust & Safety product development decisions. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success against strategic priorities and continuously refine Trust & Safety product offerings based on data-driven insights. Lead efforts to incorporate analytics and research into the product development process to inform strategy and implementation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Work closely with other department heads, including Engineering, Data Science, Legal, and Policy, to ensure that Trust & Safety product strategies align with company goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Represent Trustpilot's Trust & Safety product vision in external forums, with key partners, and in discussions with regulatory bodies. Engage with the broader Trust & Safety community to share insights, learn from others, and contribute to the development of industry-wide standards for online safety.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Proven Leadership: 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, with a significant focus on Trust & Safety, security, or privacy-related products in a technology-driven company.
  • Strategic Thinker: Exhibited ability to develop and execute a comprehensive Trust & Safety strategy that aligns with the company's mission and market demands. Knowledge of the competitive landscape in online safety, privacy, and security. Ability to anticipate future trends and challenges in the Trust & Safety domain and craft proactive strategies.
  • Consumer-Centric: Deep understanding of user needs and behaviours in the context of trust, safety, and security online. Experience in designing and implementing user-centric solutions that enhance safety without compromising the user experience. Familiarity with techniques to engage and educate users about Trust & Safety features and practices.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical background with a solid understanding of the latest technology trends, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, natural language processing, and cybersecurity measures. Experience in leveraging technology to enhance Trust & Safety measures on digital platforms.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with high emotional intelligence, enabling effective collaboration and leadership across teams within the organization. Demonstrates the ability to understand and manage emotions, fostering a positive work environment and leading through influence with empathy and adaptability.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of using data to inform product strategy and decisions. Experience in setting and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for Trust & Safety initiatives. Proficiency in analyzing trends, user feedback, and performance metrics to continuously improve product offerings.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree is highly preferred, reflecting a strong foundation in both technical and business aspects of product management in the Trust & Safety space.
