Your team and role
United Living Group is comprised of four complementary businesses, all dedicated to realising our vision of creating a connected, sustainable future. Our New Homes business provides much-needed build-to-rent and affordable housing solutions, addressing the housing challenges facing our communities.
As a vital member of the SHEQ department, you will support the team to provide advice and guidance to project teams and supply chain partners, through the delivery of multi-site Safety, health, environmental and quality support.
You will be fully supported, and this is a great opportunity for you to build a solid foundation to your career. During your time on your programme, you will be responsible for assisting your team with:
Communicating and promoting a positive SHEQ ethos and culture.
Taking appropriate and robust action for identified non-compliance with industry and United Living Standards and expectations.
Guiding and advising project teams on the implementation of business management system, policies, and procedures.
Monitoring site performance using the company monitoring arrangements.
Conducting investigations for allocated accident and incident and support and develop project team members to perform quality investigations.
Lead and support the continuous improvement of SHEQ performance.
Proactively monitor the closure of actions, via internal reporting arrangements.
Support and advise subcontractors and suppliers as required.
Participate and support in the bid, pre-con and pre-start processes as required/ based on risk profiles.
Provide performance analysis and management reporting as required.
Support line manager and wider team in the delivery of agreed strategy and action plans.
What to expect from your Apprenticeship programme
As an Apprentice SHEQ Advisor with New Homes, you’ll be given a real job from day one where you will gain hands-on industry experience, and the knowledge required to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll be inspired and stretched professionally, but fully supported by an expert network of colleagues, as you work to build the foundations for a career within United Living, and the construction industry.
To help you settle into your role, we’ll provide you with a buddy from our apprentice population. They will have some great advice as they were in exactly the same situation as you not so long ago, and you’ll also receive a dedicated mentor who will help guide you throughout your apprenticeship programme to help you achieve professional success.
As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto the Safety Health and Environment Technician Level 3 qualification with one of our training partners. You will be fully supported through a variety of methods such as classroom or remotely taught sessions, learning materials, and one-to-one support from your tutor or coach. They will also meet regularly with you and your line manager to ensure you are progressing through your programme.
Qualifications
What we need from you
5 GCSEs at grade 4-9/A*-C including English and Maths
Basic IT skills e.g. to compile reports and use a database for records and research
A UK driving licence (or be actively progressing towards obtaining a licence)
Available to start in September 2024
Be able to travel within the UK, including some overnight stays.
