Finatal is currently partnered with a Venture Capital backed SaaS Start-up who recently received circa £10m in funding and after significant growth are now looking for a Head of Data & AI to spearhead their data strategy. You will inherit a small team which includes a Data Engineer + a Data Analyst and take full ownership of the data function cross Data Engineering/Analytics as well as Data Science/AI. You will have scope to hire small team of data scientists to help implement AI into the business as well as for their clients. The ideal candidate will be both hands-on and strategical.


Responsibilities:

· Shape and execute a comprehensive strategy for leveraging data and AI to support business objectives.

· Provide actionable insights to enhance product design and improve customer experiences.

· Drive the development of scalable data workflows, reporting systems, and AI-based solutions.

· Build and implement AI models with a focus on advanced language and natural language processing technologies.

· Evaluate and integrate innovative AI/ML tools to support product advancement and business innovation.

· Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration of data projects into operational workflows.

· Establish CI/CD practices for efficient development and deployment of data pipelines and AI models.

· Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data specialists to deliver high-impact results.

· Advocate for best practices in data strategy, analytics, and reporting.

· Oversee the design and maintenance of reliable, scalable cloud-based data systems.

· Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams to align solutions with business needs.

· Define and enforce standards for data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.


Requirements:

· Hands-on experience with cloud data tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, SQL, Machine Learning).

· Expertise in building and optimizing large-scale data workflows and ETL processes.

· Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying AI/ML models, particularly for language-related tasks.

· Familiarity with AI frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other industry-standard tools.

· Strong leadership skills, with a track record of managing and motivating technical teams.

· Excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate across functions and with stakeholders.

· Understanding of SaaS business models, metrics, and the ability to align data strategies with organizational goals.

· Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) for reporting and insights delivery.

· Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security best practices in cloud environments.
