Role Summary: Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Senior Product Safety Engineer will manage the holistic safety of the ALS product. This role involves developing and managing the Product Safety Case, sanctioning product safety deviations, and overseeing risk reduction measures. You will be integral in maintaining a healthy product safety culture and supporting technical teams in achieving ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain the Product Safety Case.
Sanction product safety deviations and approve risk reduction plans.
Keep senior stakeholders informed of product safety risks via established KPIs.
Support the development and maintenance of a strong product safety culture.
Coordinate and lead product safety analyses (HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA).
Implement risk reduction activities.
Support technical teams in design reviews and achieving ALARP.
Conduct Functional Safety Assessments to demonstrate ALARP.
Provide Root Cause Analysis expertise for problem resolution.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience & Characteristics:
STEM degree with product safety experience in a regulated industry.
Chartered Engineering Status is desirable but not essential.
Proficiency in safety analysis techniques such as HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, FTA, and CAE Safety Case.
Knowledge of IEC 61508 and/or IEC 61511 standards.
Familiarity with commercial marine industry safety standards, as well as those in Naval, Civil Aerospace, Rail, Oil & Gas, or other process industries.
Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical and personal organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
Effective team player with strong communication skills.
