Head of Mathematics – Manchester (11–16 Secondary) Full-time | Permanent | Start January 2026 or April 2026 Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR1 About the School We are working with a vibrant and rapidly improving 11–16 secondary school in Manchester. Mathematics is a key priority area for the school, with a clear focus on raising standards, enhancing pedagogy, and ensuring every student leaves with strong numeracy and problem-solving skills. We are seeking an inspiring, knowledgeable, and ambitious Head of Mathematics to lead a capable team of 10 specialists (6 teachers and 4 TLR holders) and drive high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. Role Summary The Head of Mathematics will provide strategic leadership of Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, curriculum design, and outcomes. You will lead a committed team, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of collaboration, high expectations, and professional growth. Key responsibilities include shaping an ambitious KS3–KS4 curriculum, overseeing assessment and data-driven improvement, and ensuring consistent, high-quality pedagogy across the department. You will model excellent teaching, lead CPD and coaching, manage performance and staffing, and oversee all departmental systems such as setting, tracking, and reporting. As a wider school leader, you will contribute to whole-school teaching and learning strategies, support quality assurance processes, and participate in improvement planning. You will work with parents, governors, and external partners, uphold high behavioural and safeguarding expectations, and act as a visible, positive presence around the school championing ambition, consistency, and professional standards.
