The Mission Awaits:

As a Staff Data Engineer at Trustpilot, you’ll be accountable for optimising the backbone of our data ecosystem. From developing new ingestion flows, optimising existing pipelines, or helping integrate trusted data with varied systems (reverse etls) - your skills will contribute to the success of our innovative team and pave the way for future innovations.

 

Your role as a Staff Data Engineer:

  • Act as a technical bar-raiser for the processing of data; raising the bar for data scientists, analysts, and analytics engineers.
  • Design long-term data processing architecture - including data models and tools leveraged to realise our ambitions.
  • Design and implement reliable, consistent, scalable data ingestion, transformation, and integration pipelines - defining our ‘paved paths’ as a result.
  • Support the identification and approach to optimising existing data processing to minimise wastage (compute and spend)
  • Drive data ownership and accountability across engineering teams.
  • Perform data resource tagging and classification for granular analysis and optimisation opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate data usage patterns, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Automate data quality alerts and notifications to prevent outages and promote data quality.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve and refine Data processes continuously.
  • Coach and mentor lower-level engineers on best practices

 

Ideal Qualifications:

  • In-depth expertise in public cloud (AWS, GCP).
  • Proficiency with automation and scripting in languages like Python, CloudFormation, Terraform, or your language of choice.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data engineering tooling, including but not limited to BigQuery, Segment, Kafka, Airflow, Airbyte, and DataHub
  • Passion for finding and implementing efficiencies in data flows
  • Ability to work individually and facilitate initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Great stakeholder management, communication, and teamwork skills.
