Your new role

We are recruiting an SES Project Technical Manager to join us for a fixed term of 18 months to support the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project.

As SES Project Technical Manager you will work as part of the SES Technical Partner team to manage the day-to-day interfaces between Safety, Engineering and Standards (SES) and the Major Project delivery team for the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project in the Regional Investment Programme. This includes:

The A66 Northern Trans-Pennine is a Major Project scheme to improve the A66 between the M6 at Penrith and A1(M) at Scotch Corner. This role is to be based in any of our northern offices (including Leeds, Manchester, Penrith or Darlington), although travel to our other offices and locations will sometimes also be required.

  • Support the Technical Partner in the implementation of standards and technical governance controls on the project, contribute to the resolution or escalation of technical risk and issues, and provide advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and contribute to the development of governance processes, advocating that stakeholders, partners and the supply chain work to current technical standards, specifications and guidance.
  • Facilitate improvements across the project by working with the Technical Partner to provide advice on lessons learnt and support change to help embed new ways of working with technical specialist teams.

To be successful you’ll need

  • Appropriate professional qualification, or working towards, with knowledge of one or more technical disciplines and familiarity with our standards, policies and principles, such as the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships to achieve desired outcomes, including experience of working with multiple suppliers.
