Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 with an hour lunch break each day.
Salary up to £31,000 with a variety of benefits including as follows:
6 weeks' holiday per year plus public holidays although public holidays during term time are considered normal working days. Holidays must be taken during the normal school holidays and a minimum of 5 days must be taken at Christmas.
Eligible to join the school's defined contribution pension scheme.
Staff are welcome to make use of the school's leisure and sports facilities at designated times (which includes a swimming pool and gym).We are working in partnership with our client who are a well-respected, known, and independent School to recruit a HR Advisor.
Role Overview: I am recruiting for a HR Advisor to provide proactive and comprehensive HR support to our team of around 400 staff across two school sites. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your HR career within the education sector. As part of a friendly HR team, you will help achieve an efficient HR function, handling day-to-day operations and providing professional service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Advice and Support:
Advise staff and managers on policies, terms, and conditions, including pay, absence, maternity leave, and flexible working.
Handle HR casework in areas such as misconduct, performance, and grievances.
Coordinate complex HR casework and support managers in investigations.
Assist with change management processes and consultations.Recruitment and Compliance:
Ensure recruitment practices comply with statutory requirements.
Assist with recruitment, including preparing Candidate Information packs and onboarding non-employees.
Advise on recruitment strategies and take part in interview panels.
Draft offer letters and contracts and maintain the Single Central Register (SCR).
Ensure HR Department meets statutory requirements and suggest improvements.Systems, Processes, and Review:
Ensure accurate HR data capture and provide HR analytics and reports.
Oversee the HR pages of the intranet and contribute to regular reviews of contracts, policies, and procedures.
Maintain office filing systems and coordinate exit interviews.
Ensure information sharing for payroll is timely and accurate.Generalist HR Activities:
Monitor sickness and other staff absences, provide advice, and attend formal meetings.
Arrange maternity risk assessments and ensure accurate contract amendments.
Oversee support staff performance management and assist in new support staff induction.Other Duties:
Manage and prioritise workload, complete ad hoc tasks, and help deliver HR projects.
Forge strong relationships with colleagues and external networks.
Participate in training and development activities.
Keep up with CPD and professional knowledge.The Candidate:
Qualifications:
Essential: CIPD Level 3 qualification in HR management or equivalent.
Desirable: CIPD Level 5 qualification in HR management or equivalent.
Experience and Knowledge Base:
Essential: At least 2 years' experience in a busy HR generalist role. Knowledge of UK employment law and experience managing ER issues.
Desirable: Experience in education, HR Management Systems, HR policy application, and knowledge of school safeguarding regulations.
Skills and Abilities:
Essential: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, analytical skills, and relationship-building abilities.
Desirable: Contribution to co-curricular school activities and proficiency in digital software packages.
This role requires attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage various administrative tasks efficiently.
