The Opportunity
An incredible opportunity has become available for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to have the chance of working on an exciting nuclear new build project for our successful client committed to the highest standards of safety, compliance and quality.
The role
Contract £60/hr LTD
Estimated Duration – 12 months +
This role has been deemed outside of IR35
Your duties and responsibilities will be
* The Lead Electrical Engineer will have the responsibility to support our client’s Engineering & Design team through provision of Electrical Design Services including:
* Verification of the client’s tray work and supports design necessary for procurement and preparation for installation.
* Verification of the single line diagrams and cable schedules
* Verification of the earthing diagrams
* Oversight of the development of electrical systems installation design and components based on nuclear site specifications and requirements.
* Ensure all designs comply with nuclear industry codes, standards and regulations.
* Prepare and submit documentation for client approvals and reviews.
* Provide technical support for electrical equipment/systems installation preparations.
* Work packages encompass varying project stages from concept design, through detail design to construction.
* Lead a small design and construction team in supporting the works.
You will have the following experience and qualifications
* Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the nuclear sector.
* HNC or Degree in technical electrical engineering related subject
Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable.
* Strong experience in UK nuclear or nuclear decommissioning construction projects.
* Experience of E&I design best practices.
* Strong understanding of design process & associated documentation.
* Project lifecycle experience (concept, detail design through to construction, testing and handover)
* Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures.
* Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015 together with experience of undertaking ‘Designer’ requirements
* Strong understanding of electrical standards and regulations (e.g., IEEE, NEC).
It's great if you also have the following
* Ability to work from nuclear licence site with overarching responsibility for the electrical installation.
* Collaborative skills and experience working as part of a multi-discipline team.
* Ability to participate in constructability reviews and provide construction support.
* Ability to work in a team or alone, comfortable to liaise with client and vendor representatives.
* Ability to identify innovative solutions and embrace emerging technology.
* Possess strong communication and organisational skills.
Software Package Knowledge
* Proficient use of the following software packages:
* AutoCAD LT.
* Manipulation of 3D models via Navisworks or equivalent.
* Microsoft suite of programs.
Working Conditions
-Work may involve exposure to high voltage equipment and construction environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
