We have a new opportunity available for a Financial Controller, to be based in Colchester, offering a salary of £55’000 to £65’000 plus benefits.
This is a full-time office-based role, and your working hours will be Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm, with one hour for lunch.

As the Financial Controller you will be working for a successful company group, who have two companies that you will support. One company provide branded items to their customers, specialising in visitor attraction branded items, they are a smaller company with eighteen employees, successfully turning over circa £5m per annum. The other company provide load restraints such as ratchet straps and edge protectors to the transport industry, they also have around eighteen employees, with a similar turnover of £5m per annum. They have previously worked with a freelance finance team and have now bought this function of their business in house. They are two totally separate businesses, within their own industries, having their own cultures and they operate their own separate accounts.
As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for preparing and sharing the management accounts for both companies, overseeing all finance functions, and sitting on the senior leadership teams for both businesses, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate and timely financial information to management. What makes this role more unique is that you will be responsible for building a team from scratch to join yourself.
To be considered for the Financial Controller you will need…
Previous experience working as a Financial Controller.
Experience preparing management accounts.
Experience sitting on senior leadership team.
Experience working within a smaller business.
Experience of building a team from scratch.
Experience of managing the accounts for two or more totally separate businesses, within different industries, with somewhat different cultures, but under one group.
