About the Position

If you are a Principal Structural Engineer looking for your next challenge, we would love to hear from you. We are currently seeking a high-calibre and motivated Principal Structural Engineer to join our expanding Civil and Structural Engineering team to deliver consultancy services and develop engineering solutions for our clients across industries such as Maritime/Coastal engineering, Industrial and Water. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams throughout the organization and our clients to efficiently deliver projects and provide high-value consultancy services. You will be based in one of our UK offices. The right applicant will be provided with an exciting career in developing engineering solutions for a number of sectors including energy, property, transportation and environmental. Our global client base will provide a breadth of opportunities to develop new skills and grow key experience in diverse and challenging applications.

Responsibilities:
  1. Managing the delivery of projects; may act as discipline lead within a multidisciplinary team.
  2. Maintain client contact and ensure that project delivery meets the client’s objectives and requirements.
  3. Ensuring that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and completed in accordance within agreed timescales and budgets.
  4. Undertake project delivery tasks, which may include calculations, drawings, sketches, and reports.
  5. Provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist, where practicable, in mentoring and development of others.
  6. Work in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines.
Specific experience, skills & knowledge

Knowledge of design in common building materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry. Experience of working within a 3D design environment is essential and an ability to work to BIM protocols would be desirable. Application of Engineering principles, Design Development, Computer Aided Design and Modelling Packages such as Tekla.

Qualifications / skills

Honours degree in Structural Engineering or suitable equivalent degree. Chartered Structural Engineer or near Chartership (IStructE). Ability to work on own initiative and seek assistance when required. Ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales and budgets are met. Take responsibility for personal development and support the learning of others. Effective negotiation and persuading skills. Project a professional image to clients and colleagues. Able to work collaboratively to form strong working relationships with colleagues and clients. Able to recognize own impact on others and adapt the approach where appropriate. Demonstrate integrity.
