Are you passionate about environmental conservation and enhancing public spaces for the community? VNA Recruitment are currently seeking a visionary Head of Green Space to lead strategic planning and management of green areas within our clients region.
The Role:
As the Head of Green Space, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and maintenance of public parks, gardens, and other green spaces within the area. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the development and implementation of strategic plans for green space management, in alignment with environmental sustainability goals and community needs
* Managing a team of professionals, including landscape architects, horticulturists, and maintenance staff, to ensure the effective delivery of green space projects and services
* Collaborating with internal departments, external stakeholders, and community groups to engage in consultation processes and gather feedback on green space initiatives
* Monitoring and evaluating the condition of green spaces, identifying areas for improvement, and developing maintenance schedules and enhancement programmes
* Overseeing budgetary and financial planning for green space projects, including securing funding opportunities and managing resources effectively
Requirements:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
* Extensive experience in a senior management role within the field of parks and green space management, within a local authority or public sector organisation
* A strong understanding of environmental conservation principles, landscape design, and horticultural practices
* Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve high standards of performance
* Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external partners
* Proven experience in strategic planning, project management, and budgetary control
