Mechanical Project Engineer for a project based in Bedford area.

PurposenThe purpose of this position is to deliver the project KPI’s for Delivery, Quality, Safety, Cost and Customer Satisfaction through the effective implementation of the Project Execution Plan, Project Quality Plan and associated procedures.nKey Duties and ResponsibilitiesnPromotion of safety functions and procedures; participate in safety improvement incentivesnPreparation and issuance of technical and contract correspondence, compilation of requisite records and claim submissions to validate claims both against client and subcontractors and protection of employer’s rights and entitlements against incoming claims for mechanical worksnPre-qualification and short-listing of contractors and consultantsnAssist in bid evaluation and awarding of contractsnInvolvement in pre-construction negotiationsnAssist with the planning, preparation and development of a Site Budget and of accountingnDevelop / Coordinate sub-contracting strategy and sub-contracts for bid/tendernLiase and negotiate with subcontractors on matters of progress, coordination, entitlement and interpretation of contract documentsnReview, evaluate and approve of contract payments and exchange ordersnConduct meetings with clients, contractors and design consultants to clarify design issues and interfacesnConduct regular site inspections and site meetings to determine the status of the projects, to provide directions, to coordinate the works and to solve technical problemsnMonitor the time schedule and supervise the construction worksnApply QA / QC requirements according field quality program, I&T programs and I&T plansnEnsure that work follows applicable codes, statutory regulations and specificationsnEnsure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared for all relevant tasksnEnsure that construction, erection completion documentation and turnover packages are prepared and submitted in a timely manner by Superintendents / SupervisorsnProvide a weekly report documenting problems, changes, schedule modifications, performance etc.nApply NCR and other relevant toolsnEnsure properly set up claim managementnQ-document – Method Statements / Risk AssessmentsnOpen item lists / punch listsnTraining and development for all discipline personnelnExperience feedback for improvementnEnsure safety functions are integrated into all aspects of worknResponsible for on-site administration of subcontractors and direct hired labournAdvise senior project team members on strategy, to ensure project progressionnCoordinate I&C works to avoid conflicts and minimize delays whilst ensuring the efficient, cost-effective and safe completion of the projectsnManagement of budgets, claims negotiation and settlementsnIdentify programme requirements, plan facilities in cooperation with balance of construction team membersnDevelop, monitor and update schedulesnCoordinate the development of System Turnover Packages
