General Summary:

This position reports to the Head of Software Engineering or their designee and is based in Banbury in the UK. Responsible for the continuous delivery of in-house software, in accordance with the department’s development plan.  Working within the wider Performance Group to deliver high-quality software for use across the group.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Use a range of .Net technologies to develop and deliver modern database, service layer and client application solutions in support of the Performance Group.
  • Take part in code reviews with other members of the software team.
  • Seek clarification as required to ensure correct interpretation is delivered.
  • Work with other software engineers to ensure delivery of projects.
  • Understand and integrate with third party vendors as required.
  • Ensure clarity and simplicity of code for robustness and future maintainability.
  • Keep abreast of new techniques, learn new languages and tools as required.
  • Provide race support on a rotation basis.
  • Adhere to all engineering and wider business processes.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Assume any responsibilities and duties delegated by the Head of Software Engineering or their designee.

 

Education and Work Experience:

Minimum BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar course demonstrating an understanding of algorithms, data structures, databases and object orientated programming.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong academic background in modern software engineering techniques.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations, whilst prioritising and managing the workload efficiently.
  • Work well in a team environment with personnel at all levels.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Developing full stack solutions from database, to service, to end user application.
  • Knowledge of C#, JavaScript, Python and HTML would be advantageous.

 

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
