Opportunity:
Senior Quantity Surveyor required for Highways projects in Hampshire. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial expertise to aid with the delivery of the contracted work by taking the commercial lead in a geographical focused team. The provision of accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the to the management team whilst ensuring the contract achieves the appropriate commercial targets.
This role would suit an ambitious, driven Senior Quantity Surveyor who embraces the challenge of working within a high performing and supportive team. Experience within the civil engineering industry is essential for this role, ideally coming from a main contractor background.
To be successful in this role, you will:
* BSc in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
* CSCS compliance
* Working towards professional membership of an appropriate organisation (for example, RICS/CIOB)
* Detailed knowledge of company management systems including; Commercial and financial (Commercial Manager / COINS / Sphere)
* Procurement Risk management
* Personnel management
* Commercial and contractual knowledge, in various forms of contract including NEC
* A working knowledge of current legislation
* Proven experience of managing quantity surveyors on a large contract
* Negotiation and settlement of disputes and accounts relating both to customers and suppliers People management experience, such as managing performance, development and disciplinary procedures
* Experience working with a variety of schedule of rates contracts

Roles & Responsibilities
· The SQS will ensure that the clients commercial position is protected using in depth understanding and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes.
· SQS will be responsible for effective client relationship management to encourage smooth commercial progression of the contract(s).
· Provide liaison with the client, PQS, and senior staff
· SQS to manage and provide development and support to other commercial team members.
· Understand the impact of commercial and technical changes at strategic level within the customer’s business industry/sector
· Anticipate and plan change in commercial resource on the project
· Provide commercial support to tendering process when required.
· The Senior Quantity Surveyor will prepare the basis of the project procurement schedule and ensure the team contribute and complete their relevant sections.
· Oversee subcontract procurement in accordance with the procurement timetable, in accordance with the procurement policy.
· Ensure that materials and off site services are procured in an efficient manner with capable organisations in accordance with the procurement policy and procedures and ensure appropriate records are kept
