We are seeking an experienced and skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial and domestic gas engineering, with ACS Commercial and Domestic Gas qualifications, as well as significant experience in a similar service environment. They will also possess a flexible approach to work and be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. Additionally, a full driving license and good communication skills are essential.
Our client specialises in all aspects of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) engineering, boasting over 20 years of extensive experience. They have a proven track record of working across various sectors including education, healthcare, housing, retail, and leisure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Commercial Gas Engineer:
* Undertake heating/combustion maintenance and reactive repair works within specified time frames to meet client expectations.
* Proactively identify and carry out heating/combustion maintenance works.
* Conduct heating/combustion PPM works within specified time frames to ensure statutory compliance.
* Perform heating/combustion improvement works as required.
* Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant, including basic electrical fault finding.
* Evaluate performance and ensure the proper servicing and maintenance of all plant room equipment.
* Maintain stock control systems as directed.
* Ensure the cleanliness of plant rooms, workshops, and storage areas.
* Carry out on-call duties as part of a rota.
* Ensure administration requirements are actioned on time and all necessary documents and records are accurately maintained.
* Carry out commercial and domestic installations.
* Perform domestic fault finding and servicing.
* Undertake minor plumbing works.
Essential Requirement:
The ideal candidate will hold a range of ACS Commercial and Domestic Gas qualifications, including CCN1, CEN1, and CPA1 for domestic gas, and CIGA1, COCN1, CBHP1, ICPN1, and TPCP1A for commercial gas. In addition to these qualifications, the candidate must possess a full driving licence and significant experience in a similar service environment. A flexible approach to work is also essential, as the role requires adaptability and the ability to adjust to changing circumstances.
Desirable:
* HVAC Control Systems knowledge
* Basic electrical qualification (e.g., 17th edition IEE)
* Previous experience in PFI building maintenance
* Legionella Awareness
* Understanding of pressure system regulations
* Experience with BMS systems

Continuous training programs, covering both technical and personal development.
In terms of working hours, our client operates on a Monday to Thursday schedule from 8:00am to 4:40pm, and Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm. In addition, they offer a call-out service, with a frequency of once every five weeks. During these callouts, you will receive a standby rate of £100.00 and be guaranteed at least 3 hours' pay
