We are currently looking for an experienced Retail Merchandiser to join the team at our Lake District head office.
Job description:
As PAC Buyer and Retail Merchandiser at Wheelbase Lakeland Limited you will be responsible for range planning and monitoring performance of Parts, Accessories and Clothing (PAC) from our industry leading cycling brands.
Your role is to ensure that these products appear in the right store and website, at the right time, in the right quantities and replenishment monitored. You’ll play a key role in maximising profits by setting prices, managing performance and planning promotions and markdowns.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan product ranges and prepare sales and stock plans.
- Meet with suppliers and manage the distribution of stock, by negotiating best cost prices, ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates and completing the necessary paperwork.
- Communicate product range plans to our Visual Merchandiser, Retail, Stock and eCommerce teams.
- Work with the Finance Director to forecast profits, sales and plan budgets to control stock levels.
- Maintain a comprehensive portfolio of range plan data.
- Analyse the previous season’s sales and report on the current season’s lines at a weekly Buying and Merchandising meeting.
- Analyse every aspect of bestsellers, ensuring that they reach their full potential, along with monitoring slow sellers. Plan promotions with the Marketing team and issue markdowns.
- Maintain awareness of competitors’ performance and cycle market trends.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in merchandising and/or retail/business management.
- Having an interest in cycling will be an advantage, but not vital.
- A finance and or business qualification would be preferred.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, including proficiency in Excel.
- Proof of sound decision-making and the ability to plan and prioritise.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work well in a team. Build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to understand what will appeal to customers.
Working hours:
9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. However, flexible/longer working hours may be required from time to time.
The role is office based with a balance between independent work and regular team contact. Some of your time will be spent visiting stores, suppliers and attending trade fairs.
