This company does not have a finance function. The Head of Business Operations has been processing the invoices, payments, expenses but they need a dedicated finance person to take on these duties and report to them. Hence this newly created role to provide day-to-day financial bookkeeping to the company.
Bookkeeper Responsibilities
This Bookkeeper role will be busy and varied and will include but not be limited to:
Maintain and update project related financial records
Process invoices, payments, and expenses accurately and in a timely manner
Manage monthly payroll and ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
Manage payments and bank account transactions
Maintain and develop finance-driven processes
Assist in setting up a new ERP financial system
Bookkeeper Rewards
As this is a newly created role, the advantage is that over time, the role can evolve based on the individual’s progression requirements and you can make it your own. The role will always be an individual contributory role (as opposed to growing and managing a team) but could get involved in auditing and reporting or in projects or in forecasting and budgeting for example. But for the shorter-term, you will need to be passionate about performing the duties of this specific junior-mid level role and requirements.
The working hours are 40 per week - 9am-6pm with an unpaid 1-hour lunch break.
This is a full-time, permanent role. 5 days a week in the office.
The office is based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire and there is plenty of parking available.

The client is unable to offer sponsorship support for this role, now or in the future, and so you must have unrestricted right to work in the UK and live local to the office to get there 5 days a week.

Bookkeeper Experience
To be successful in this role you must have previous UK based experience in a finance role and preferably within a similar type of agile, fast-paced and ever-changing organisation, working with ambiguity and being prepared to roll your sleeves up and do whatever is required beyond the basic job description. You must have, or be working towards, a finance bookkeeping qualification such as ACCA or similar and have a good understanding of UK accounting principles. You must have experience of providing payroll data to a payroll provider.
You must possess -
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to liaise with different stakeholders and Project Managers across the organisation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant finance software applications, ideally Quickbooks, Xero and Sage
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, and team-oriented environment
Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
Passion for solving problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
Location
This role requires you to be based in the office in Northern Oxfordshire, 5 days a week. Please ensure you are local to apply for this role.
