Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a specialist machinery manufacturer in Lincolnshire with a focus on automation and robotics. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the business at an exciting time in their development as they continue to innovate and develop market-leading technology. Reporting to the Drawing Office Manager the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead a projects team with the primary focus on designing robotic packaging systems from concept through to production.

Other duties of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will include:

  1. Understand and implement the technical requirements and scope of work for each project.
  2. Collaborate with project managers, project engineers, the production department, and customers
  3. Adhere to project schedules and budgets while working on multiple projects simultaneously
  4. Design robot cells, end-of-arm tooling, and Conveyors and Feeders within the cell
  5. Select and specify robots and other cell equipment
  6. Able to carry out sizing calculations for motors, gearboxes, shafts, belts etc
  7. Generate detailed and assembly drawings of custom equipment, including end-of-arm tools, robot frames, conveyors, and feed systems
  8. Test and troubleshoot equipment
  9. Support the production and installation team

We would be keen to speak with Senior Mechanical Design Engineers with the following:

  • Degree Qualified in Mechanical Engineering / A recognised Apprenticeship program
  • Proficiency with 3-D parametric modelling software and 2-D AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of BS308 drafting standards; ability to read, create, and check drawings
  • Knowledge of EU machinery directive
  • Understanding of mechanisms involving bearings, pneumatic systems, and electric motors, including experience with servos, sensors, materials, finishes, and structural design
  • Familiarity with robotic cell design, including safety standards
  • Knowledge of fabrication and machining processes used to make bespoke components
  • Understanding of automated industrial processes
