Arriva is one of the largest providers of passenger transport in Europe, delivering nearly two billion passenger journeys across ten European countries each year.

We are hiring for a Treasury Manager to join the Corporate Centre Treasury team on a fixed term basis for up to 12 months, providing Maternity Cover.

The role will be based with colleagues in our Doxford Park office in Sunderland, a minimum of 2 days per week with the rest focusing on where you can best deliver, whilst still allowing for the required work life balance. The role operates Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with 1 hour lunch per day.

Arriva Treasury provides support, advice and execution services to Arriva companies relating to funding and liquidity, cash management, FX and interest rate risk management, fuel hedging, guarantees and other related treasury services. The treasury operation also drives ongoing efficiency improvements and development of optimal treasury processes while ensuring solid internal controls. It is also responsible for maintaining relationships with internal teams and external counterparties such as banks and other treasury related service providers.

The role of Treasury Manager plays an integral role within the Arriva Group and will involve a variety of regular responsibilities as well as a spectrum of ad-hoc projects across the treasury function.

What will I be doing?
  • Supporting the Head of Treasury, by being the inhouse expert on liquidity and financial risk management, (with prime focus on fuel risk management), co-ordinating and reviewing collateral issuance across Head Office, UK and Mainland Europe businesses.
  • Actively support the developing Arriva Treasury function, through influencing behaviours with key internal and external stakeholders and managing change to optimise the departmental support for the business.
  • Driving efficiencies within our financial counterparty dealing service, payment processes, cash visibility and forecasting and bank account structure, whilst optimising our systems to deliver insightful management information and analysis are key facets of the role.
  • Predominately overseeing 'front office' activities such daily cash & liquidity management, liquidity forecasting analysis, intercompany funding, dealing activity (where appropriate), exposure identification and risk management, project management (M&A support, Treasury Management Systems) and delivering insightful management information and analysis, including the development of front office KPI's.
  • Lead responsibility for the monitoring, management, and development of the departments internal controls matrix and regulatory compliance requirements, ensuring they reflect operational needs and ensuring team compliances with the controls.
  • The role can commit Arriva to large size deals in the financial markets, and therefore requires evaluation of risk positions and proposes/analyses necessary structures using financial instruments to reduce risk.
  • Supporting the continuous professional development and optimal performance of a direct report, the Senior Treasury Analyst.
  • Work closely to ensure policy and processes are aligned with Arriva's Parent Company.

We are looking for a proactive individual to join the Arriva Treasury leadership team, with ability to effectively plan, consistently deliver high standards of service, maintain quality reporting, ensure compliance with law and policies and be capable of identifying and delivering significant value to the Arriva Group.

The candidate will also have the ability to shape and positively influence behaviours across the Treasury team, senior management and business units.

Candidates will also:
  • Be qualified to a minimum undergraduate business degree in finance, accounting.
  • Holds or is studying for a recognized Treasury qualification i.e., CTP, FCT, AMCT,
  • Demonstrate extensive experience in a Corporate Treasury team of a multinational business, dealing with a full range of treasury management issues.
  • Be target focused with proven ability to add value / deliver outstanding results.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to quickly establish effective relationships both internally and externally at all levels in the organization.
  • Show ability to breakdown technical topics into language non-Treasury specialists can interrupt and act upon.
  • Possess excellent negotiation and project management skills.
  • Show efficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and capable of financial modelling. Know ledge of Oracle and Consolid8 advantageous but not essential.
  • Demonstrate alignment to our Arriva values: caring passionately, doing the right thing and making a difference.
