Rate: circa £325 per day Umbrella
Job Overview:
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing and delivering maintenance programmes, overseeing minor capital projects, and ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of building services. You will work on a variety of projects, including listed buildings, and contribute to public sector decarbonisation efforts. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Planned Maintenance Programme Contribution:
Develop and implement a robust planned maintenance programme.
Regularly update maintenance schedules and preempt potential issues.Project Management for Minor Capital Projects (up to £1-2m):
Manage all phases of minor capital projects from conception to completion.
Develop project specifications and secure necessary planning permissions and listed building consents.
Ensure compliance with building control regulations.
Oversee the awarding and management of build contracts, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.Responsive and Remedial Repairs Management:
Appoint and coordinate contractors for minor repairs.
Prepare detailed repair specifications and secure necessary consents.
Monitor and ensure the quality and timeliness of repair works.Mechanical and Electrical Systems Replacement and Renewal:
Secure expert advice and perform calculations for M&E system replacements and renewals.
Ensure systems meet current standards and future needs.Specification and Management of New M&E Systems:
Develop and manage specifications for new M&E systems in new construction projects.
Oversee contract awards and ensure the installation meets project requirements.Decarbonisation and Net Zero Contributions:
Secure advice and perform calculations for replacement systems aligned with decarbonisation goals.
Develop specifications that support public sector decarbonisation and Net Zero targets.
Facilitate bidding for public sector decarbonisation initiatives.Qualifications and Skills:
Relevant degree in Building Surveying or related field.
Professional membership with RICS or similar.
Extensive experience in building surveying, particularly in managing maintenance programmes and minor capital projects.
Proven track record in securing planning and building control consents.
Strong project management skills.
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience with listed buildings and public sector decarbonisation projects is desirable.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.Benefits:
