Stark Building Materials UK are looking for a dynamic highly self-motivated and talented Space Planner to work within the Property department delivering a diverse range of new and refurbishment branches across its portfolio of approximately 600 branches.
You will be responsible for the layout design and space planning of our new branches, refurbishment projects, special projects and format updates working closely with other internal departments as well as external consultants and suppliers.
STARK comprises of 14 brands including one of the UK's leading builders' merchant Jewson, along with Gibbs & Dandy, JP Corry and Normans, specialist brands Minster and Jewson Civils Frazer, and major timber importer and distributor, International Timber.
Key Responsibilities
Attend branches and new sites nationally to carry out ad hoc surveys to either check, enhance and update existing design information or prepare a measured survey to enable space planning to be undertaken.
Prepare floor plans for new branches, retrofits and format updates.
Possess a basic understanding of Building Control regulations to ensure any layouts do not breach minimum escape corridors and distances.
Build strong relationships with branch operations teams to ensure timely and cost effective project targets are achieved.
Adapt core group space planning criteria to meet each unique site and situation.
Liase with the Project teams and proactively contribute to the design development opportunities within each scheme/brief.
Act in accordance with Stark Group company values.
Ensure external construction design detail is checked and meets the brief of the space plan liasing closely with external design consultants.
Required Skills and Experience
AutoCAD literate
Experience using 3d software is preferred.
Experience using space planning software.
Experience working in a Merchant or Retail environment.
Excellent communication skills with both business and external technical teams.
Full UK driving license.
Ability to work alone on your own initiative, self-manage and prioritise your own workload.
