London Area, United Kingdom Thames Freeport Full time

Trade & Investment Major Investment Manager

About Thames Freeport:

Thames Freeport is the largest economic intervention and opportunity in South Essex and the Thames Estuary. Its vision is to connect the global ports at London Gateway and Tilbury with Ford’s world-class Dagenham facility, creating an economic zone which accelerates investment and jobs in the region. This includes generating new economic value of over £2.5bn per year, additional inward investment in excess of £4billion, and over 21,000 new and sustainable net additional jobs, delivering regeneration and job creation in areas in urgent need of levelling-up.

The Thames Freeport partnership is a private sector led consortium comprising DP World, Forth Ports and Ford. The private sector partners work very closely with HM Treasury, HMRC, DLUHC and DIT, as well as all local and regional bodies including Thurrock Council, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, London Borough of Havering, the Port of London Authority and the Thames Estuary Growth Board.

The role:

The Trade and Investment Manager is a senior role, delivering a core objective, in an agile, multidisciplinary, team. You will support the CEO and Trade & Investment Director directly, leading delivery of major investment projects, managing the end-to-end investor journey and maintaining a healthy long-term trade and investment pipeline.

Success in the role will demand the ability to solve problems, build relationships across organisational boundaries (e.g. investors, government, councils and landowners), work in a team, deliver through partners and segment opportunities. Thames Freeport is committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applications regardless of candidates' background.

Key responsibilities

  • Deploy bespoke campaigns for major opportunities, bringing together compelling offers that land transformative investments and contribute strongly to wider Freeport objectives such as jobs, innovation, and skills.

  • Maintain a healthy investment pipeline with clear strategies for prioritisation and the segmentation of investor journeys, and targeted business development that balances immediate, medium, and long-term opportunities.

  • Develop virtual teams across Thames Freeport, our private sector partners (DP World, Forth Ports and Ford) and public sector organisations to deliver investor journeys, with clear hand-off arrangements and commitment to account management best practice.

  • Represent Thames Freeport professionally across the trade and investment landscape, working as part of an agile, flexible, and mutually supportive team.

Skills and experience

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to bring energy, initiative, and ambition to your work.
  • Strong analytical skills and creativity in problem solving.
  • Proven experience working within international business; working productively across cultures.
  • Demonstrable experience and success in promoting trade and investment.
  • Experience and confidence in managing senior relationships and key stakeholders.
  • Strategic and commercial focussed mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities and relationships.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to leverage metrics and data to drive insights and influence decision-making.
  • Strong financial acumen and awareness.
  • Existing eligibility to work in the UK.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth within our organization. If you are a motivated and dedicated individual, we would love to hear from you.

To apply, please submit your CV. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.

As key partners within the Thames Freeport, DP World are pleased to advertise this role on their behalf. We reserve the right to close this job early if we receive a high volume of applications.
