Main description
As a Maintenance Engineer at Geary’s, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the bakery equipment and facilities. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting and resolving mechanical, electrical, issues, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks to prevent downtime and ensure safety.
As a Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer you will work within various departments across three sites, and your development will include:
* Working alongside our team of experienced engineers to apply learned skills in real-world situations
* Assist in maintaining and repairing bakery equipment to ensure continuous production
* Participate in routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks
* Support the engineering team in troubleshooting and resolving equipment failures
* Learn to document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records
* Safe and Professional working practices including legislation, regulation, industry procedures and safety requirements
* Supporting planned preventative maintenance schedules and tasks
* Continually looking at ways to improve asset performance
* Learn how to handle equipment safely and correctly
* Use systematic faults diagnosis techniques to assist in the rectification of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
* Familiarisation with the company’s systems and procedures including adherence to Company Health & Safety Policy and safety regulations is essential
You will engage in continuous learning and development activities as part of the apprenticeship programme, including attendance at college and on-the-job training. We are fully committed to support you during your training and as an apprentice you will be an integral part of the team
Entry requirements
We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths and A*-C / 9-4 for English, Science and two other subjects.

Things to consider
The apprenticeship involves block periods of training at our Training Providers Technical Centre in Years 1, 2 and 3, therefore applicants need to be prepared to live away from home during these periods. Your Accommodation will be paid for. Year 1 – 20 weeks Year 2 – 14 weeks Year 3 – 6 weeks

Upon successful completed you will be a fully qualified level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer with the opportunity to progress further within the company.
