Contract: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:00 – 4:00pm / Friday 7:00 – 2:30pm
Salary: £27k+ dependant on experience
Location: West Bromwich
Our client who are a hazardous waste management company are looking for Technical Assessors to join their team in West Bromwich.
As a Technical Assessor you will follow procedures according to WM3 to technically assess waste enquiries, you will ensure that all incoming and outgoing waste are correctly classified and that an auditable trail of records are maintained according to site procedures.
The Technical team are integral to ensuring sufficient information is supplied by customers, including samples where required to not only make sure regulatory procedures and paperwork are in place, but most importantly safeguard our drivers and operations team so they know what is being transported and coming into our site.
Key Responsibilities of the Technical Assessors:
* Carry out technical assessment of waste enquiries through characterising and applying accurate classification of the waste and ensuring all waste brought onto site meets current permit, compliance, and legislation requirements.
* Ensure that all waste is packaged and transported in line with current transport regulations.
* Ensuring paperwork using the QC system for incoming and outgoing waste is compliant & correctly completed.
* Identify and assign cost effective treatment and processing routes for a variety of hazardous waste streams
* Liaise with the Laboratory for sample analysis
* Liaise with other departments to ensure an efficient workflow.
* Provide technical advice, support and guidance to the wider compliance team, the company and to external customers.
* Work to current company policies, procedures and legislation.
* Producing reports as and when required
* Offsite support at customer sites for sampling, packaging and chemist services when required.
* Help in the Laboratory when required.
Requirements for the Technical Assessors:
* To be considered for this role you must be a ‘technically competent’ person and must have either a chemistry degree, HNC or HND
* Competent computer skills
* An adaptive and problem-solving approach to tasks, attention to detail with good organisational and verbal/ written skills
* Work experience within the environmental, waste, or chemical industry would be an advantage but not essential.
* Experience and knowledge of WM3 waste classification guidelines is desirable though not essential
