Technically, the candidate should bring extensive experience in hardware-software integration, product development lifecycles, and cross-functional project leadership. Familiarity with agile project management, engineering best practices, and documentation standards is essential, while hands-on experience in quantum technologies, optics, or microfabrication will be a valuable bonus .



  • Background in the quantum technology field.
  • Knowledge of microfabrication methods, testing, and validation practices.
  • Hands-on experience with optical and photonic systems.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic processes and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.



Role Description


As the Engineering Director, you will drive the development of advanced quantum networking hardware, taking charge of multidisciplinary teams—including digital design, software, electronics, and nanofabrication. You will be instrumental in setting the technical vision and engineering strategy, supporting and advancing the team’s efforts through leadership and cross-functional alignment. This role places a high value on technical acumen, collaborative leadership, and fostering a vibrant, inclusive company culture.



Key Responsibilities



  • Inspire & Lead : Guide engineering teams across diverse disciplines to create scalable and cutting-edge hardware solutions.
  • Strategic Planning : Take charge of project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation across the full product lifecycle.
  • Optimize Processes : Champion best practices and tools, adapting them as the company scales.
  • Technical Leadership : Act as the key technical authority, ensuring engineering deliverables meet the company’s ambitious technical goals.
  • Documentation : Oversee technical documentation and champion rigorous standards for certification readiness.
  • Mentor & Grow : Cultivate an environment that promotes professional development and engineering excellence among team members.



Ideal Candidate Profile



  • Educational Background : Bachelor’s or Master’s in a numerate discipline (e.g., physics, engineering).
  • Industry Experience : 15+ years in engineering with 10+ years leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engineering Expertise : Track record of managing hardware-software integration projects, adept with agile methodologies.
  • Product Development : Extensive experience in taking prototypes to market-ready products, including certification processes.
  • Leadership Skills : Strong team mentorship abilities, with a collaborative and adaptable mindset.
  • Problem-Solver : A proactive approach with a commitment to best practices and continuous improvement.



Desirable Experience



  • Quantum Knowledge : Familiarity with quantum technology and the latest advances.
  • Specialized Skills : Experience with optics, photonics, or microfabrication techniques is a plus.
