Director of Corporate Services, Strategic Research & Translational Thrust (SRTT)

A*STAR is spearheading a series of Strategic Research & Translational Thrust (SRTT) that harnesses its multidisciplinary expertise to undertake a focused research mission. Operating as a cross-A*STAR initiative, SRTTs are geared at delivering impact and outcomes in specific thematic areas. Led by the A*STAR Research Office (RO), SRTTs will be actively managed where the SRTT Programme Directors and research team members will be provided dedicated central support.

Under the newly established Central Initiative Administration, A*STAR is recruiting a Director for Corporate Services (DCS) to support the SRTTs.

Leading a team of staff, the key responsibilities of the DCS include the following (non-exhaustive):

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to SRTTs in achieving the scientific goals and objectives;
  • Interface with relevant A*STAR divisions on human resource, budget, finance, procurement, IT, laboratory space, corporate communications, health & safety regulations, licenses, data protection, Business Contingency Planning and Crisis Management Planning and other regulatory requirements;
  • Review business process workflows to achieve efficiency and optimization;
  • Ensure compliance with A*STAR prevailing policies and guidelines;
  • Work closely with RO and other relevant stakeholders to formulate, communicate and implement administrative policies and procedures;
  • Work closely with A*STAR, SRTT and RO management in talent development, retention and training of SRTT staff and students, including optimal staff redeployment;
  • Onboard new staff and students, including visiting scientists/professors; and
  • Plan and prioritize to cater to the different needs of SRTTs
