Purpose of Role:
We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our finance team in Daresbury. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organisation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial transactions. The Finance Assistant requires a strong understanding of financial processes and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Ledger:nMaintain and update the sales ledger.nProcess sales invoices, receipts, and payments.nMonitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
Purchase Ledger:nManage the purchase ledger, ensuring all invoices are recorded accurately.nProcess and verify supplier invoices and payments.nReconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Purchase Order Procurement:nAssist in the procurement process by raising and managing purchase orders.nLiaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.nMaintain accurate records of all procurement activities.
Banking (Payments, Reconciliations, Receipts):nPerform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.nProcess payments and manage receipts.nHandle cash flow management and forecasting.
Expenses (Credit Cards), Petty Cash:nManage employee expense claims and company credit card reconciliations.nOversee the petty cash fund, ensuring all transactions are recorded and balanced.
Credit Control:nMonitor accounts for overdue payments.nImplement and maintain effective credit control policies and procedures.nResolve payment issues and reduce debt.
Group Inbox Management and Admin Support:nManage the finance team’s group inbox, ensuring queries are addressed promptly.nProvide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, data entry, and document management.
ESG Data Collection:nAssist in the collection and reporting of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data.nEnsure compliance with ESG reporting standards and requirements.
Build Resilience into the Finance Function for 6 Group Accounts Ledgers:nSupport the finance function across multiple group accounts.nContribute to the development and implementation of processes to enhance the resilience and efficiency of the finance team.nAssist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis for group accounts.
Desired Background:
A degree in Finance or Accounting (AAT Level 3 preferable).nPrevious experience of intercompany transactions and journal posting.nA strong understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.nProficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.nExcellent organisational and multitasking abilities.nStrong communication skills and attention to detail.nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.nExperience with ESG reporting is beneficial.
