Technical Manager
Are you an established Technical Manager? Worked within a fast-paced food manufacturing? Want to join a company that is on an upwards journey of growth?
Major Recruitment are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join their team at their manufacturing/production site in Rochdale. You will be responsible for food safety, quality and integrity across a site that manufactures premium baked and unbaked bakery products. Management of HACCP, Quality Management Systems and site audits are your primary focus but the coaching and mentoring of your team will be top of your agenda.
The Technical manager will be a key team player within the senior management team, in this fast-paced environment you will be responsible for the food safety, quality and integrity across the site. You will also be responsible for the quality management systems, site audits and compliance. The Technical Manager will also be responsible for the continuous improvement of the food safety manual in compliance with legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities of a the Technical Manager :
You'd be responsible for food safety compliance and ensuring the safety of the bakery.
Managing and overseeing compliance to BRCGS, legal labelling compliance, specification management, supplier approval, internal audits, TACCP/VACCP).
Coaching a Technical Assistant to ensure paperwork completion, calibration of scales and probes, shelf life testing ect are carried out.
HACCP Team Leader.
Horizon scanning - for new and upcoming risks and legislation.
Management and continuous improvement of the food safety manual in compliance with legal requirements and BRCGS standards.
Leading BRCGS, Soil Association, Kosher, Halal, customer and EHO audits.
Overseeing pest control contractors.
Ensuring the satisfactory investigation and close out of food safety related customer complaints.
Conducting 6 monthly retail audits in preparation for EHO visits.
Overseeing product sampling and testing program - including shelf-life testing, yeast and mould.
Identifying training needs and communicating with the Site Manager.
Supporting all building developments from a food safety perspective.
Any other task that may be reasonably required from time to time.

HACCP level 4 desirable, minimum level 3.
Food safety level 3.
Attention to detail.
Effective communication with all areas and levels of the business.
Excellent organisational skills.
Knowledge of MS office.
Basic knowledge of specification systems.
Minimum of 3 years in a food manufacturing environment managing within the Technical function
