Engineering Delivery Manager
Location:              Crawley (hybrid working)
Duration:             6 months
Rate:                   Up to £66.71/hr Umbrella or up to £48.79/hr PAYE (inside IR35)
The Engineering Delivery Manager for Growth shall lead the engineering team to develop and deliver the Training & Simulation growth solutions, concepts, digital products, minimum viable products (MVPs), proofs of concept (PoC) and customer funded research & development (CFRD) activities around next generation technologies and solutions in the Training, Modelling and Simulation industry. 
This position will focus upon delivery of Digital Transformation and Low TRL SFRD and CFRD projects including PoC demonstrators and MVPs in collaboration with partners, suppliers and the customer/end-user.
It is a fast-paced, agile development team embracing Digital Transformation culture, behaviours and ways of working.
The Engineering Delivery Manager will assume full responsibility for the delivery, management and development of all engineering management aspects of the solution ensuring that technical governance and strategy is tailored to the delivery of projects.
Key responsibilities & Tasks
Responsible for Design, develop, integrate, test, deliver and support of complex systems architecture/design solutions.
Interpreting and analysing Customer solution requirements obtained/derived from customer and corporate specifications and wider market drivers.
Developing innovative solutions, including the specification of software, hardware and HMIs and managing sub-contracted work packages.
Supporting T&S Domain exercises, trials, research and experimentation.
Reviewing system specifications and other documentation associated with technical solutions.
Reviewing inputs to the solution architectures as well as determining cost and schedule impacts that result from these developments.
Elicit, understand and capture the customer’s problem space, capability requirement and user need (capturing CONOPS/CONUSE and architectural framework views as appropriate), this should include elicitation of customer hot-buttons on the perceived solution and development risk appetite.
Provide the leadership and clarity to ensure T&S solutions integrate into the customer environment and achieve user adoption and customer satisfaction.
Propose the solution options that can satisfy the user need to create a strong value proposition and addresses the customer hot-buttons.
Work closely with end-users to understand the value customers realise from T&S solutions.
Engage across the company to propose multi entity solutions to customer problems.
Responsible for all engineering management aspects of the TS Solution ensuring that technical governance and strategy is defined for. They will assume full responsibility for the delivery, management and development of the Engineering Management Plan.
Defining the Engineering Team WBS and OBS, the engineering lifecycle, the schedule of work and the engineering management plan.
Directing and leading the team to achieve the project stage reviews and milestones to cost, schedule and acceptable quality.
Ensuring successful (internal & external) Customer Acceptance.
Other responsibilities will include:
Provision of strong technical leadership to ensure the solution is matured such that it will satisfy the requirements and achieve acceptance, accreditation and certification.
Pro-active project and technical risk and opportunity management.
Implementing an objective and predictive monitoring regime to enable early identification of issues and risks, and definition of recovery actions to ensure on time acceptable delivery is achieved.
Ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe manner and that both equipment and personnel safety aspects are properly addressed throughout the Project in line with Legal and Company requirements.
Working collaboratively with the wider project team, partners, customer/end-user, functions, suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure delivery commitments to the internal and external customers.
Delivering engineering work packages to cost and schedule.
Proven Ability / Key Skills
Proven capability as an Engineering leader, able to drive the establishment of a proactive and dynamic team culture where all team members are encouraged and supported to operate to their full capability. 
Proven capability for complex systems development working across the whole product lifecycle.
A sound understanding of System Engineering principles, processes and practices.
Strong interpersonal soft skills and excellent communication.
Knowledge of training solution development, integration and acceptance. (desirable)
Training, modelling and simulation technologies proven ability. (desirable)
Digital Twin & data driven systems utilising AI/ML/Big data techniques/technology. (desirable)
