We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Tutor to join our team, working with secondary-aged pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of engaging and inspiring students, helping them achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction: Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in English to secondary-aged pupils, ensuring lessons are engaging, relevant, and accessible.
Lesson Planning: Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH and behavioural challenges, ensuring lessons are differentiated to accommodate varying abilities.
Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment, using effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a safe and productive classroom.
Student Assessment: Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations, assignments, and feedback sessions, adjusting teaching methods to meet evolving needs.
Curriculum Development: Collaborate with other educators to design and enhance the English curriculum, ensuring it meets educational standards and student needs.
Individual Support: Provide additional support and resources for students who require extra assistance, including one-on-one sessions and tailored learning materials.
Communication: Maintain open and regular communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and strategies for supporting SEMH and behaviour challenges.
Record Keeping: Keep detailed records of student performance, attendance, and any incidents, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
Resource Management: Utilize available teaching resources effectively, and contribute to the development and sharing of new resources to support student learning.
Supportive Collaboration: Work closely with school counselors, special education staff, and other support personnel to create a comprehensive support network for each student.Requirements:
Experience: Proven experience working with SEMH and behaviour challenges.
Qualification: Previous experience tutoring or teaching English to secondary-aged pupils.
DBS: Must have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to build rapport with students and create a positive learning atmosphere.What We Offer:
