At Seasalt we live and breathe our product and are proud of the exceptional quality and level of care we take in design and sourcing, to deliver beautiful garments which are loved by our customers. Based on the Cornish coast, we're a multi-channel lifestyle brand with over 70 shops across the UK & Ireland, over 400 wholesale stockists and a growing online business.

At Seasalt, we are passionate about developing our people and our community. One of the ways we are doing this is through apprenticeships If you’re ready to embark on your career journey, a Seasalt apprenticeship could be for you.

Our Buying team shape and plan ranges that excite and delight our customers while maximising the commercial potential. This apprenticeship is a fantastic way to learn the ins-and-outs of the product lifecycle, working within a growing, creative Cornish business.

As a Buying Apprentice, you’ll provide administrative support throughout the buying cycle, exposing you to all end-to-end processes and contributing to Seasalt achieving our sales and profit targets. Day to day, you’ll work through a range of tasks across sample management, data input into our Product Lifecycle Management System, critical path maintenance, trade reporting and meeting support.

Please note, as part of our Seasalt Connected approach to ways of working, this role will be based flexibly across our Cornwall head office locations - Falmouth (primarily) and Redruth for a minimum of two days per week – and working remotely from home.

You’ll help us by:

Critical path’s enable us to create an efficient and effective timeline throughout product production, ensuring each stage is completed on time. You’ll monitor products production progress from purchase orders being sent through to critical path emails from our suppliers, ensuring data is uploaded into the system, samples are received on time and logged on our systems at each stage of the product lifecycle. With support from the Assistant Buyer, you’ll ensure all approvals are sent within set timelines and update the wider team on progress.

On a weekly basis you’ll complete a top 10 bestseller report and support in sample management for weekly trade meetings. Throughout the apprenticeship you’ll enhance your understanding of the weekly trade cycle, priorities, and provide support in meetings where appropriate. You’ll also work on lessons learnt and regularly review competition, highlighting anything significant back to the team.

You’ll look after the full set of buying samples, including receipting, posting, storing and sharing with other departments where necessary, such as Photography, Technical and Design teams. Within sample management you’ll be responsible for samples at all stages of the product lifecycle; ensuring they are presented well for sign off, stored effectively in the cupboards and sent to the Distribution Centre in line with priorities.

The skills you’ll be sharing with the team:

If you are interested in this exciting career prospect, it’s not just about your grades from school or college. We’re interested to find out more about your skills and interest in this apprenticeship.

If you are proactive, have an eagerness to learn and enjoy problem solving, you could thrive in this role. Strong organisation, communication and analytical skills are key, alongside being approachable as you develop relationships with colleagues and suppliers. An understanding of Excel would also be desirable. Working within a fast-paced environment, you’ll enjoy working under pressure and will be flexible to changing working priorities.

Perhaps you have developed these skills through extra curriculum activities, hobbies or through previous work experience. Wherever you have used these skills previously, we want to hear from you

An apprenticeship is a great way to start your career, with the opportunity to progress into roles such as Buyers Admin Assistant, Assistant Buyer, or exploring other departments within Product.

The apprenticeship:

As one of our Apprentices, you will be on a 2-year fixed term contract starting in September 2024. Your working hours will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

With support from your line manager and the Training & Early Career Advisor, you will be working towards a Level 4 Buying & Merchandising standard.
