What will you be doing?

• Aligning the Data Privacy procedures and advising the business of relevant policies and standards in accordance with the Business strategy and governance framework
• Coordinating and inputting into the review of customer privacy notice and Record of Processing Activity (ROPA) updates
• Working with the relevant business teams to ensure that Data Privacy related incidents, breaches, and risk events are appropriately reported, recorded, escalated and monitored
• Providing input into or measure, as appropriate, conformance, assurance, and reviews from the perspective of Data Privacy within the Businesses
• Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments in relation to relevant new business propositions to ensure that any risks are identified and appropriate mitigating actions are taken
• Driving the development of training to upskill Data SMEs and the broader business population to ensure awareness of actual and emerging data privacy issues, themes and risks
• Maintaining oversight of Individual Rights requests, providing support where these are complex, helping with business and data analyst queries, issue resolution, and guidance provision
• Identifying and escalating issues and risks in a timely manner to the development/project manager so that project risk can be mitigated with minimal impact


What we’re looking for:
• Excellent Relationship skills and the ability to work constructively across a diverse range of stakeholders
• Relevant knowledge with preferably a few years of experience in data protection regulations, including in the UK and European region, preferably in the financial services industry
• Experience of relevant data privacy obligations and requirements, complying with marketing privacy, surveillance, online privacy issues and in the context of suppliers and third parties
• Ability to communicate with the stakeholders, understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications


Skills that will help you in the role:
• Certifications in one or more of the following disciplines: data privacy, legal, compliance information risk or information technology would be useful
• BCS qualification in Data Protection, Professional Privacy Certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (e.g. CIPP /E) or equivalent is preferred
• Excellent business judgment and commercial acumen and a willingness to exercise it
