Quality Engineer

Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Wednesbury, Dudley, West Bromwich, Aldridge areas)
This is an interesting and varied responsibility to work for a business that design and manufacture components and assemblies for a wide range of automotive OEM customers, so this role affords the opportunity to work on customer projects from concept through to series production
Duties:
o Co-ordinating and controlling investigation of Customer/Supplier complaints to enable a full understanding of the real root cause failure and corrective actions
o Monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of any corrective actions taken to eliminate Supplier or Customer complaints.
o Accountable for all line quality issues - containment, corrective action, risk assessment and problem resolution.
o Continuous monitoring of the manufacturing processes by audits, statistical analysis or any other relevant technique to support continuous improvement.
o Provide guidance to the shop floor staff on Quality Assurance and cost saving techniques.
Experience:
Applications are sought from experienced Quality Engineers with significant knowledge of production quality control and new product introduction gained within automotive tier 1 or OEM manufacturing.
o Apprentice trained, HNC or Degree in an engineering or technical discipline
o Ability to liaise with and manage OEM customer and supplier expectations
o Structure problem solving skills – 8D, 5Y, A3, PPS
o Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement techniques
o Familiar with volume manufacturing processes
o Internal auditor experience - IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 desirable
o Proven ability to use quality tools such as PPAP, Control Plans, MSA and PFMEA.
