New Nuclear Power Station located in Somerset, UK on the Bristol Channel 10 miles from Bridgwater and 40 miles from Bristol.
The Project comprises 2 1700MW EPR Reactors and when completed in 2030 will deliver over 7% of UK power demands for the next 60 years.
Tier 2 arrangement with GE. GE are providing an EPC contract to construct the steam turbines into the Turbine halls. Ther Arrabelle turbine types are the largest in the world and Ge contract includes supply, installation, and commissioning of all mechanical, electrical and control systems.
Value: £85M (2023 economics)
Bespoke GE contract derived from FIDIC Yellow Book
Part Lump sum part re-measurement.
The commercial lead is responsible and accountable for all contract and commercial management requirements to deliver the Project and contract objectives and protect the Company’s commercial interests. The commercial lead reports directly to the Group Commercial Director and indirectly to the nominated Site Project Director. Regular liaison and feedback with the other company stakeholders and shareholders is also required to provide progress updates, raise awareness of risks and opportunities and to maintain corporate alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties are full post contract administration including measurement and valuation of the works, compiling applications for payment, preparation and co-ordination of sourcing strategies for specialist subcontracts, prefabrication, plant and materials, subcontract administration, cost and commercial management and reporting.
Assignment The role is site based at Hinkley Point C embedded into the onsite delivery team organisation.
Anticipate 2/3 days onsite per week with 1 to 2 days operating from satellite offices in Bridgwater. Remote working possible once a week (Fridays).
Knowledge Qualified QS to degree standard and professional qualification (MRICS) preferable. 10 years similar sector experience in related industries either Nuclear, Petchem, oil and Gas or Pharma.
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installation essential.
Some exposure to major projects preferable.
Working knowledge of FIDIC form of contracts or NEC suite required.
Line management of a small team
Able to work in an integrated team in a high-pressure environment.
Able to compile claims strategies and to present and negotiate a settlement with the Customer.
Able to conduct difficult conversations.
Knowledge of CEMAR would be a benefit.

Access Hinkley Point C worksite will require security clearance and Disclosures Barring (DBS)
Site access CSCS MAPs or CCNSG safety training and Hinkley Point C C induction will be required
