Maintenance Engineer

with an electrical bias to join the team based at Port Talbot.nReporting to the Engineering Manager, the role will entail maintaining and repairing equipment within the factory to minimise downtime and increase production.

Hours:

42 hours per week operating on a on a four-weekly cycle; Working day and night shifts. A day shift runs 6.00am to 6.00pm. A night shift runs 6.00pm to 6.00am.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESnCarry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Breakdown/Reactive Maintenance of machinery.nEnsure machinery and equipment is maintained to a safe operating standard.nIdentify spares/parts that require procuring and report back to engineering manager.nCarry out / assist with equipment installations.nKeep up to date with housekeeping in the workshop and engineering storage areas.nEnsure maintenance and engineering practices comply with BRC requirements.nMainly electrically-based tasks but will also require working knowledge and experience of mechanical systems, pneumatics & hydraulics, fabrication, pipework as well as PPM and reactive maintenance.nCarry out any necessary maintenance / installation work to buildings / facilities etc.

REQUIREMENTSnExtensive industrial electrical experience.nMechanical and fabrication experience beneficial.nAbility to read and understand electrical, mechanical & pneumatic drawingsnKnowledge of electronics and P.L.C’s.nKnowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.nExcellent communication & numerical skillsnAbility to use own initiative & good organisational skillsnAbility to manage and deal with change in a fast moving and demanding environment. whilst still maintaining standards set within the business.nGood attendance and time-keeping.nAn individual that can continue to make improvements and upgrades to increase production and improve safety.nKnowledge of Microsoft Office would be beneficial.nA full UK driving license and a valid FLT counter balance certificate are preferred.
