PROIV Software Engineer

Almondsbury, United Kingdom Zellis Full time
About the role
As a PROIV Engineer you'll work within one of our ResourceLink (HR & Public, Payroll or Absence) development teams. You'll work in a team with other Development and QA Engineers, and with our ResourceLink Product Management team, to understand their requirements so you can design a solution for their Epics that are allocated to your team and reside within your backlog.
You'll be responsible for maintaining, designing, building, and unit testing product functionality. You'll also resolve bugs and ensure correct procedures are maintained for unit testing and delivery. You'll burn down scope in the team’s backlog by resolving tasks and providing 2nd line support to the ResourceLink Support team, assisting with requests for help (RFH) when needed. To do this, you'll need to be a good team player, adept at managing your workload and multi-tasking, with good interpersonal skills to work successfully with different teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with the Product Strategy & Planning team in analysing the requirements for future developments. You'll also be involved in walkthroughs presented by them.
* Providing estimates for delivery and then designing / coding solutions based on the requirements, ensuring the Agile delivery methodology is maintained.
* Providing regular updates with Team Lead / SME to ensure the design / solution is on track.
* Presenting the designs back to the Product Strategy & Planning team (plus QA and Support representatives) on an ongoing basis via daily scrum meeting, to ensure that all aspects of the requirements have been incorporated.
* Developing and unit testing quality software. This could involve developing your own specifications, leading a team developing your specifications, or working as part of a team developing specifications owned by other Developers.
* As a development owner, performing a thorough unit and link test to ensure that all components of the development perform as expected.
* Developing and documenting all unit and link tests carried out, to ensure that a completed solution meets all aspects of the design and the original requirements (plus meets all development standards and is fit for QA).
* Working closely with and supporting the QA team while the software goes through the QA process.
* Collaborating with other Engineers to ensure the successful execution and seamless delivery of Epics and bugs to agreed delivery deadlines.
* Providing demonstrations and training on developed software to all necessary parties.
* Ensuring Version Control procedures are maintained.
* Resolving bugs and ensuring correct procedures are maintained for unit testing and delivery.
* Ensuring strict procedures are followed when accessing customer systems.
* Taking ownership of RFH and bugs raised by the Product Support team within Azure Devops (ADO) relating to customers, working closely and collaboratively with Product Support to resolve in a timely manner based on priority and other workload.
* Appropriately flagging any issues and plans to address to the Lead Engineer in order to demonstrate ownership of the resolution.
* For any funded core development, collaborating with Product Management, Test Engineers, IT and Product Support teams, to ensure the successful execution and seamless delivery of product functionality.
Skills & experience
* Experience of ResourceLink products, or previous experience working within the HR / Payroll software industry.
* Worked within an IT development environment.
* Experience of PROIV programming language (or equivalent).
* Relational database experience, preferably Oracle and / or MS SQL Server.
* Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO).
* Experience of Agile and / or Waterfall development process.
* Has a passion for making things better and confident to suggest improvements to procedures.
* Can communicate both technical and non-technical information, depending upon the audience.
* Can produce quality documentation for unit test plans / results, release notes, procedures, etc.
* Great level of attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads as necessary.
