The Opportunity
Given increased project expansion, our client is currently on the lookout for an experienced Piping/Mechanical Designer, to join our leading client who prides themselves on achieving operational excellence to provide cutting edge solutions to key UK projects.
Estimated Duration- 12 months
This role has been deemed inside of IR35
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Prepare Detailed Drawing packages to allow the Mechanical contractor to fabricate and install the project or plant change request design.
Visit site to carry out detailed surveys of existing & proposed installations using various measuring devices including Laser and dumpy levels.
The Designer will model the pipework and mechanical equipment using the current 3D design software (currently Plant3D). Deliverables from this will include Piping GA’s, Isometrics, P&ID’s, MTO’s etc.
Carry out 3D Model reviews as required by the Project/Lead engineer.
Work as directed by the D.O. Piping/Mechanical Section Leader.
Undertake design and prepare drawings/documents which will be issued to enable installation of new piping and mechanical designs to engineering and site standards.
Piping/Mechanical Designer within the Design Office Piping/Mechanical section.
Reports to the Design Office Piping/Mechanical Section Leader.
Prepare 3D model of the proposed design.
To undertake detailed site surveys using Laser & Dumpy levels.
Prepare Deliverable drawings in AutoCad (GA’s, Isometrics, Support details etc.)
Produce MTO to enable materials to be ordered in SAP.
Produce Isometrics to enable stress engineers to carry out stress review.
Issue drawings for review and then installation.
Carry out 3D model reviews.
Produce vessel/equipment general arrangement drawings.
Work in accordance with Design Office procedures (WI’s).
Liaise with other disciplined designers.
Liaise with Mechanical Engineers.
Attend project or plant change meetings.
Attending regulatory safety training, including site and PU inductions, permit to work, fire training.
Use Essar design codes and standards.
You will be expected to work both independently and as a member of multi-discipline teams.
You must be able to work on-site amongst plant and equipment and have a good knowledge of refinery piping design.You will have the following experience and skills
Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical/Piping design and drafting experience in the Petro-chemical industry.
A self-starter who can demonstrate the ability to take the initiative, be proactive and follow through to completion.
Should have good experience of working as part of a team and good communications skills.
Understanding of applicable UK legislation, engineering standards and design codes.
The incumbent must be physically fit and be able to work at heights and in exposed outdoor areas.
Autocad.
Plant3D design software.
CDM Regulations
Petro-Chemical piping/mechanical design.
Team Working.
Site Surveying (including laser level use)
