Today the Museum is more relevant and influential than ever. By attracting people from a range of backgrounds to work for us, we can continue to look at the world with fresh eyes and find new ways of doing things.

We employ 900 staff in a variety of roles, all united by our vision of a future where people and planet thrive. We need everyone to have the passion and drive to help us with our mission to create advocates for our planet and inspire millions to care about the natural world.

Diversity and inclusion matter to us.

Our vision is of a future where both people and the planet thrive. Diversity is one of our core values and we strive to build a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging. All new staff who join us learn about the importance of diversity and inclusion to the Museum and how to contribute to creating an inclusive environment.

We know we have more to do, but we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works at the museum feels valued, respected and supported to thrive.

About the Role

Do you want to help the one of the UK's most popular museums create advocates for the planet through social media?

You’ll help moderate social media channels, engage in social listening and help colleagues across the organisation understand and improve the impact of our social media posts. You’ll help make sure our social media calendar is full of varied, interesting content that gives us the best chance of meeting our ambitious targets for social media engagements and views. You’ll be a champion for accessibility, two-way engagement and creative risk-taking.

Reporting to the Social Media Manager, theSocial Media Executivewill sit within the wider Digital Content team under the Communications, Digital, Marketing and Publishing (CDMP) department. We’re a friendly, creative team that supports flexible working. We want to be as inclusive and equitable as we can in our hiring so we’re up for discussing specific adjustments and access needs to help make this role work for you.

Whether it’s creating content to inspire visits to our latest exhibition, sharing stories about our impactful scientific research, jumping on the latest trends in pop culture or helping mitigate and manage risks to our reputation – every day is different at the Natural History Museum and there’s a huge variety of things to do.
