We are currently looking for a Principal Computational Geneticist to join a leading biotechnology company based in the Berkshire area. As the Principal Computational Geneticist, you will be responsible for supporting the analytical workload within a dynamic and innovative Genetics group. This role offers a flexible / hybrid location with a preference for the South East of the UK, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that span the entire R&D pipeline, from target identification to post-marketing.
This role is available initially on a 12 month contract basis, but there is a solid possibility of extension.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Principal Computational Geneticist will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Analyse and utilise genetic data generated through multiple platforms and associated analytical approaches.
2. Apply expert knowledge of statistics, specifically in statistical genetics, to interpret and present data.
3. Use advanced computational skills, including proficiency in R, Python, SQL, and bash, and experience working in a cloud environment.
4. Collaborate on projects with an outward-facing role, potentially leading initiatives and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Principal Computational Geneticist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in a related field - eg. genetics, computational biology, statistics or similar.
2. Proven industry experience in analysing and using genetic data.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with the drug discovery process and problem-solving skills.
