This is a senior “Head of” role overseeing that function including a small team of around 3/4 individuals at the Manager / VP level.

As the Head of FRTB & CCR within the Regulatory Capital Policy division, you will contribute to the external engagement with the firms lead regulator on the interpretation of FRTB regulations. You will also be working to ensure new regulations in line with strategic objectives.

This team is unique in just how closely it works with the business. Rather than simply working to receive, interpret and communicate new regulatory changes, you will look to aid the business in structuring transactions in line with these regulations.

Core responsibilities

  • Lead on interpretation of new FRTB IMA, CVA and CCR regulations.
  • Ensuring that interpretations are thorough and then effectively communicate to the business.
  • Ensure interpretations meet regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations.
  • Identify which developments and regulations impact on stakeholders across both first and second line of defence.
  • Formulate the firms regulatory interpretations on all aspects of FRTB IMA, CVA & CCR, following the appropriate level of review and governance.
  • Provide detailed compliant but practical guidance
  • influence the external development of regulatory policy by writing public responses to new standards, proposed rules, and discussion papers.
  • Contribute to the Group’s response to future regulatory FRTB IMA, CVA and CCR developments
  • Provide liaison with Regulator and support in respect of Trading Book.
  • Provide support to ensure complete coverage of risk types for new product due diligence, transaction approval process and advisory services
  • Manage the process for Trading Book model submissions/notifications to the PRA.
  • Remain up to speed and working knowledge of Basel III and RWA calculations
  • Identify, raise and implement process improvements across the function on an ongoing basis.
  • Set an appropriate example as a senior leader within the group ensuring support to the team but also support junior across the wider group where necessary.

Required skills and experience

  • Experienced working in a top consultancy or large banking organization within a regulatory capital policy or Risk advisory function
  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in Regulatory Capital with recent experience with FRTB.
  • Demonstrable in-depth, recent, and relevant working knowledge of the Prudential requirements
  • Experience of CCR, CVA and Market Risk (FRTB).
  • Core understanding of RWA calculations, Basel III/IV regulations within the wider Reg Capital policy environment preferred.
  • Robust and demonstrable knowledge of financial products.
  • Experienced with successfully managing a team, hiring, motivating and reviewing team members.
  • Excellent communication skills in a business environment; verbal, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple key deliverables at the same time.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple relationships across the business, Risk and Finance.
