Morson are currently looking for a Buyer/Planner to join our Aerospace & Defence client based in Leicester.  They are offering competitive salary and benefits package including hybrid working and a 9 day fortnight (every other Friday off).
As Buyer/Planner you will be responsible for:
Supporting the programme schedule to deliver complex, high risk, high value equipment and/or services
Liaising with key stakeholders to coordinate material availability to each programmes schedule
Ensuring that we remain compliant with all relevant and appropriate regulatory requirements
The Role
The Buyer/Planner will create and maintain the planning schedule using forecast, capacity modelling and MRP systems to ensure we meet our programme schedules. You will play a key role in securing cost efficient, timely and in-full deliveries from our external suppliers; to ensure we can adhere to our customer and/or service requirements.
Duties and Tasks
Analyse and evaluate forecasts/reports to enhance supply chain delivery
Collaborate with other key supply chain stakeholders to maintain planning and supplier in the ERP system
Ensure continuous improvement against our Company planning systems
Monitor MRP requirements and order statues to ensure delivery dates are on target
Prepare weekly schedule plans & supplier forecast, ensuring they are effectively communicated to all relevant stakeholders
Raise PO’s approval, control and follow-up on production materials and expedite as required
Review and analyse Material Requirements Plan (MRP) and release purchase order requisitions or adjust purchase order deliveries as needed
Self-vendor management including finding gaps/problems in daily cooperation and looking for solutions to improve the process
Support Buyers on any additional ad-hoc activities
Support Planners on any additional ad-hoc activities
Support Sub-Contract Managers to ensure Supplier(s) achieve timely performance
Person Specification
The Buyer/Planner will develop and manage effective relationships across the breadth of the company and its customers and have the confidence to technically lead cross discipline project teams. The successful candidate will be expected to bring maturity and credibility when engaging with customers, senior managers and stakeholders. We expect the incoming Buyer/Planner to be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:
Skills:
Ability to work within defined compliance and processing structures
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to high levels of accuracy
Strong organisational skills
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Knowledge:
2+ years’ experience of working within a planning/procurement or similar role –preferably within the aerospace & defence sector, engineering or any other comparable industries
Good knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices
Working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems
Conduct and Behaviours
A positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to deliver exceptional customer service
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider global team
Creative and resourceful under pressure
Prioritise workload with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
Resilient and self-motivated
Willingness and ability to travel in the UK and overseas occasionally
