Position: Installation Engineer

Overall Purpose: An integral team member, home-based, Installation Engineer, supplying inspection of garage equipment upon customer sites. This role will involve travelling to highly professional large-scale commercial and industrial vehicle workshops, generally within your geographical area. You will be working on customer equipment such as car lifts, MOT testing equipment, air compressors, wheel alignment, tyre changers, wheel balancers, and a variety of other automotive equipment.

Location

This is a field-based role in which you will attend customer sites based within your region.

Hours of Work

5-day week, Monday to Friday 07:30 to 17:00 with overnight stays as required

Holidays

25 days, plus Bank Holidays (1 extra day loyalty holiday after completion of 5 years’ service)

Equipment Provided

Fully equipped company vehicle, fuel card, tablet, mobile phone, workwear and PPE

Description of Duties
  1. Carry out the installation of a wide range of garage equipment products including vehicle lifts, brake testers, wheel & tyre equipment, etc.
  2. Completion and submission of accurate paperwork as required in compliance with the Quality System.
  3. Compliance and adherence to laws and regulations covering Health and Safety within the workplace.
  4. Ensuring control of own van stock to meet First Time Fix targets.
  5. Satisfaction of customer needs.
  6. The continued development of skills required to ensure that all work is completed to a high standard.
  7. Prepared for overnight stays from home.
  8. Prepared to work overtime when required.
Essential Skills
  1. To have good working knowledge and experience of activities in a field service environment.
  2. Experience in working with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, preferably garage equipment.
  3. Ability to install equipment working from site specification and scale CAD drawings.
  4. Able to follow procedures and work instructions, working to specified standards.
  5. Proven ability to deliver excellent quality of service to customers.
  6. To be flexible and willing to work overtime and Saturdays as requested.
  7. To be self-motivated and customer-focused.
  8. Positive “can do” attitude towards solving customer problems.
  9. Confident and able to work under your own initiative.
  10. Excellent communication skills – dealing with colleagues and customers at all levels.
  11. Knowledge of the region’s geography and road network would be a distinct advantage.
  12. A full clean UK driving licence is essential.
