We are looking for a Transport Manager to join the Frontier team, based at Cranswick on a permanent, full-time basis.

As an integral part of the site transport team, and wider national network you will manage the team of drivers and bulk tipping vehicles reporting to the National Bulk Transport Manager.

In line with our key values, you will ensure that the vehicles and drivers are safe and complaint and that the drivers are fully engaged with the business. This all achieved whilst maintaining a high level of efficiency and income.

Our transport teams are a crucial part of the business as they efficiently collect and deliver the bulk products that that the business sells, either on its own fleet or with subcontractors. This is achieved with class leading customer service which needs the understanding of the individual requirements of customers and stakeholders.

To be successful in this position the candidate must have strong organisational and communication skills as well as keen attention to detail and strong time management skills.

  • Experience of meeting multiple deadlines in a very time sensitive environment.
  • The experience of the transport environment is preferred, however if you have the right attitude and transferrable skills, we will be happy to invest in you with any training that is required.
  • Self-motivated and tenacious.
  • Must hold a UK driving licence.

Your Role

As a Transport Manager your role will involve:

  • Creating efficient work schedules for the vehicles using the available products from the company and 3rd party contracts. Ensure a high level of efficiency and income are achieved whilst maintaining a high level of customer service and transport legislation compliance.
  • Ensuring that the vehicles and trailers are serviced and repaired as required by manufacturers and legislation. Work with the fleet services department to expedite repairs if required.
  • Communicating collection and delivery confirmations with customers.
  • As a key part of the national fleet optimise the logistical efficiencies of the whole fleet.
  • Providing support cover when required within the existing Forwarding Team
  • Working seamlessly with the Regional Forwarding Manager at Cranswick to keep the forwarding team and transport management as one, closely collaborating to obtain the overall business requirements of the team.
  • Communication of logistical issues to peers/ suppliers/customers
  • Managing driver development through performance development reviews, with regular 1-2-1s and ad-hoc communications and face to face meetings.
