European L/S Analyst

I'm working with a high performing , growing European L/S Smid Cap Hedge Fund (14% annualised absolute returns, since inception), growing their exposure to Global Equities. The fund is directional L/S operating with low net exposure. You will have a deep understanding in any of the following sectors - Defence, Tech Hardware, Industrial Tech, Industrials, Materials, Metals & Mining, Energy and Chemicals. Their process is research intensive and focuses on trying to identify opportunities where they believe the market is overly optimistic or pessimistic about the future earnings power of a business. They spend the majority of their time analysing businesses and industries and trying to model out their future earnings. They place high value on the ability to distil the key drivers of a business / industry, and the accounting skill to translate that into a reasonable forecast of the future earnings power of that business. Your focus will be on building / maintaining company/industry models, engaging with company IR teams, engaging with key industry experts and identifying specific data to verify your analysis. You 5+ Years experience on the buy-side or sell-side Demonstrate an ability to understand businesses and a willingness to go the extra mile in trying to verify their analysis Ability to determine the meaningful drivers of a businesses’ economics from the noise Humility, being able to admit when you are wrong or don’t have sufficient data to hold an opinion Self-confidence, the willingness to push their position when they believe their analysis is correct Initiative, a willingness to try and find your own answers to questions and problem
